My son is turning 16 in April so I made him a keychain. His initials are DJJB and his new vehicle is an antique 1989 F250. Such a cool truck needed an extra special keychain to go with it.
Review: Adults and Crafts January Kit
This craft is both simple and difficult at the same time.
Simple: You basically hammer a stamp. If you have ever put a nail in the wall, it's pretty much like that.
Difficult: It is very hard to get a row of letters and/or numbers to line up and space evenly.
Lesson learned: The next time I do a metal stamping, I will tape a ruler to the object. That should help line up the letters and numbers. The ruler should also help with the spacing issue. In addition, I will set aside extra time just so I don't feel rushed.
Pros: The craft is straight forward and easy to understand. Also, Adults and Crafts provides plenty of objects to stamp. This craft is perfect for creating a Valentine gift or other gifts throughout the year.
Cons: I wish there were other stamps in addition to letters and numbers. A few elements such as hearts, flowers, or geometric shapes would have been a nice touch. Also, this craft is noisy. The hammering is very loud.
In the end: This is a fun, easy, but challenging project. Can you have all three at one time? You will have to try metal stamping to see what I mean. I made a keychain for my son's sweet 16 birthday and I know he will like it. I also plan to stamp a necklace to lift the spirits of a friend who has been sick. I'm glad to have this kit handy so I can make homemade gifts through out the year.
