Start Here and Beginning Brief

A Start Here guide and a Beginning Brief are always included in the box. Start Here provides simple instructions for how to play the game and get help and hints. The Beginning Brief provides you with an overview of the mystery that you are about to solve. This brief gives you a good idea of where to start searching for clues.

The Clues

This box has a lot of clues and puzzles to begin the game with. It's great that the creators organized some of the clues into labeled envelopes.

Next Steps

The envelope labeled “Second Floor Sitting Room” is a Do Not Open Until Instructed envelope. Thus, I call this Phase 2 of the game. As you make your way through the clues of Phase 1, you will eventually be instructed to open this envelope in order to advance the game.

Once you have solved the murder mystery, you can open the Solution envelope. You will get to read a statement from the perpetrator and/or find out exactly why they committed the crime in their words.
