Review: Mix Box January Dessert
After I mixed the batter, I thought I had forgotten an ingredient or didn't put enough of “something” in. The batter is very thick. Not what I was expecting from a cake batter. After determining that I followed the recipe exactly as written, I began to assemble the cake batter for baking.
With this cake you pour half of the batter into the pan, layer chocolate chips and cinnamon sugar, and repeat with the remaining half. The second half was hard to spread because the batter is thick and I probably used more than half for the first layer. After some coaxing, I had the batter evenly spread and ready for the oven.
This cake bakes up to be very dense but moist. The cinnamon and chocolate chips pair well together. I was not expecting the cinnamon flavor addition to a chocolate chip cake but it tastes great together. As I expected, my entire family loves this dessert.
